well we went to london several times... it was our first stop but we loved it so much that we found cheap round-trip tickets from rome so we went back for clara's birthday. and we had so much fun THAT time that we had to go back after paris (we had to fly through london anyway since our round-trip tickets were sao paulo-london-sao paulo anyway).
we were so lucky... we met a great group of brazilians living in a dorm in notting hill (clara's older sister's ex-boyfriend was one of them, that's how we met them all). they adopted us immediately and they took us out clubbing like locals so needless to say, i think london was our favourite stop (all three times...) of the trip.
london I: we meet the notting hill brazilians the first night. the next day we see the touristy sights--piccadilly circus, tower of london, buckingham palace, the london eye, the thames, big pen and the houses of parliament, etc. etc. that night we go to to "the end" for the first time--layo & bushwacka were playing and it was absolutely amazing. even more amazing, as i'm going up the stairs from the club to the bar someone yells out "dani!" and i look up to see debora & erin! (i saw sofia & fernanda later too.) the world's a small place! no one seems to know where stansted airport is, which is where our flight to dublin leaves from... we get there too late and miss our flight. 40 pounds sterling to get on the next one.
london II: we go to the world-famous portobello market in notting hill. again we go to "the end" where a great canadian dj makes our night. it's the last week-end for some of the brazilians who are coming back home after months or years of studying and working in london, so it's also likea good-bye party for many of them. again we miss our flight to rome. another 40 pounds sterling.
london III: london is so hot it feels like we're on the mediterranean... we go lay out in hyde park and sleep on a blanket. later i have the fantastic idea to make home-made pizzas. we buy toppings, pita bread, sauce, cheese, etc. and everyone makes their own pizza at soroca's and tati's flat. layo & bushwacka at "the end" again... what a great end to a marvellous trip.
